Where to invest: hardware on high-use items (drawer slides, soft-close hinges — these get touched 5-15× daily). Counter-top in active cooking zones (quartz beats granite for stain resistance + heat tolerance). Where to save: shutter material (HDHMR looks 80% as good as acrylic for daily living). Decorative profile lights (recessed downlights work fine).
