A well-written Chennai modular kitchen quote separates four numbers — and if any of them are bundled into a single line item, ask the vendor to break it out. One: carcass cost (material grade + running feet). Two: shutter cost (material + sqft of face area). Three: hardware cost (brand + count). Four: counter-top cost (material + sqft).
When you see "₹1.5 L all-in for kitchen" without itemisation, you're being asked to trust a black box. That's risky because the vendor can silently downgrade any of the four components to make margin — most commonly the carcass (swapping marine BWP for cheaper MR-grade ply that swells in 3–5 years).

What stays constant across tiers: the carcass (marine BWP ply, IS:710-grade, on every job we deliver — including basic), the install labour, the design, the supervision, and the branded hardware with invoices. We don't offer a cheap carcass tier because anything below marine grade fails under Chennai humidity within 3–5 years.
If your budget is tight, save on shutter material and counter-top first — the kitchen still functions perfectly, just looks more utilitarian. Don't compromise on hardware (drawer slides and hinges are what you touch daily) and never compromise on plywood grade.
